How it works
PlateCompass keeps the answer focused, practical, and easy to use in the moment.
Take a photo of the food in front of you, scan a package, or type a question such as “burrito or poke bowl?”
See a simple verdict with reasoning focused on saturated fat, fibre, whole grains, and the overall pattern.
Use one achievable swap, addition, or portion idea — without turning the meal into a spreadsheet.
One compass, several signals
At home, at the grocery store, or ordering out, PlateCompass helps translate what you see into a more confident choice.
Get a high-level read on a plate and see which ingredients are helping — or where a modest change could help more.
Scan several legible dishes at once and compare the options with cholesterol-aware context.
Turn a dense nutrition panel or product barcode into a short explanation you can actually use.
Ask about two foods in ordinary language. No perfect prompt, nutrition jargon, or manual logging needed.
Suggestions emphasize achievable substitutions and additions instead of labeling a whole meal as forbidden.
Keep one small food swap in view and build momentum without counting every nutrient or chasing perfection.
Clear about data
A camera check sends the image to the PlateCompass server and its configured AI provider so the result can be created. We do not build an ad profile from it or intentionally keep a copy. Barcode checks may also query Open Food Facts using the barcode number. Our policy explains the complete flow in plain language.

No image or AI analysis is perfect. Portions, ingredients, preparation methods, and blurry labels can all be misunderstood. Check packaging and ask restaurant staff when an ingredient or allergen matters.
It is sent to the PlateCompass server and an AI provider to create the requested result. PlateCompass does not intentionally store the image after processing. See the privacy policy for provider, logging, and contact-form details.
Yes. If the nutrition panel is legible, PlateCompass can read it directly. If only a barcode is clear, the app may look up public product facts from Open Food Facts.
